Hello All

#1 Post by jmwhite » Fri May 21, 2010 11:07 am

Hello All,
I am new and am trying to learn how to post a message. No luck. This is my 4th try. I need a way to mount a 5 hp backup motor on a 1991 SunTracker21. Any ideas? There does not seam to be any room or support near the regular motor.
Thanks,
jmwhite

Welcome, I moved it to the right part of the forum, but I think we discussed this before and I think the guy used a mount for a sail boat but let see what the smart guys think.

And we going to need some pictures, it best to reduce them to 640x480, if you need help just yell and we will help you out, we all been there before, even if we can't remember it anymore LOL

If it's only a 5hp, and it's a back up, this means it can't be too incredibly heavy right? Why not mount her up front. If it is just a back up, you could control it with the normal 5hp. handle throttle/rudder set up, but my only concern is how to mount it the correct direction (i.e. forward being forward, reverse being reverse). It's a thought though. :donno :donno :donno

Thanks for all the suggestions. Re: trolling motor; what thrust and make? I need it to 'push' me up to 4 miles. Speed is not a factor, just get me there. I am on the Alabama river near Millers Ferry, just north of the dam.
