2011 benni on order
I just ordered a new benni. 2275rlci with esp and very very loaded u name it and i got it . with a 200hp yamaha. i should get it by mid augest. cant wait. and by the way the price between dealers were way off the mark. i got it for about $7k less then the best deal that i had and as nuch as $13k more in some other dealers.( not sure if i can or should mention the dealer i will ask them) my question is should i spend $1250 more for a 225hp, or about $2500 more for a 250 hp. or is a 200hp plenty? i think the toon will do about 48 top with the 200.
thanks all

Re: 2011 benni on order
If you saved 7K, I'd do the "justified" and spend the extra to go large. I only have a 3.0 Chevy, but it's still fun to full throttle down the lake. We spend most of our time with the sat. raido cranked, BBQ smoke'n and chill'n, wondering what the poor people are doing (just have to look in the mirror to find out
). If I could afford it, I'd have a new Benni with a FI V-8. I'd love to turn on one toon with the center and outboard toon's in the air. Whatever you buy I'm sure you'll be happy. Chill'n and float'n is where it's at.

cncmaster.... I've only got a 75 on the back of my benny so a 200 sounds GREAT!. But if $ isn't an issue, I would go as large a motor as the boat is rated for. On the other hand, 45 + mph on the water is moving pretty good... whatever you decide you're gonna love that boat. Congrats my friend.

thank you sir. i think 40+mph for a pontoon is plenty. i was more wondering if ill need more HP when the boat is loaded.
Where did you get yours from? im in cali. but i have been shopping mostly other states. the deals have been better.

If i were ordering new, this is exactly what I would do. I've never seen or heard of anyone saying "I wish I had bought a smaller motor".
Whatever you do, you will have a sweet boat !

My guess is moving up to the higher horsepower (at this point) will only gain you a couple mph for each jump? Is this worth $1,250 - $2,500 to you? I am running a 225 on a slightly larger Bennington, so I think it is roughly equivalent. I don't know if the extra cost for the engine and gas would be worth a mild jump to me. I should add that this is the opposite of what I would normally say. I would normally say to buy the biggest that you can. In this case, you already have a very nice sized engine especially for the size of boat that you have. With this said, only one person will know if it is worth it for you.
Regarding the size of the motor, I can tell you that I have had 9 people on my boat with 3 more on a tube behind me (12 in all). Three of the tubers were probably right around 500 pounds by themselves. I don't think I ever went over 1/2 throttle, and I gave them a fairly wild ride.

DOOO ITTT, 250 for sure!! How much is it going to cost for you to upgrade once you buy the 200? If you are thinking about it now, will it drive you nuts to be out on the water wondering what the 250 would have been like?
Probably the most asked question on this forum is "how can I get more speed", I have never seen a post saying "My toon is too fast"

"never seen a post saying my toon is too fast" I built my house with a 3,000sq ft garage. While I was building I had so many people (mostly women) say why are you building such a large garage?? I'd always tell them, "ever heard a man say I wish I hadn't built such a big garage?" So nice to keep the toon inside.

Re: 2011 benni on order
one more time.
Thank you all. the owner of the dealer said that he"ll upgrade me to a 225hp at his cost of $1244, and 250hp for $2600. now i wonder when can i make that change and not cause headaches. the boat will come from benni fully build with the motor he said and it should take about 6-7 weeks. in other words how much do i have to change my mind? ( and yes i am getting the hydralic st. as well). also i am getting the in center tube gas tank which will double my gas capacity and also add weight.
PS. If i upgrade, I"LL GO TO 250HP I think.
thanks again, i like this place.

Re: 2011 benni on order
i'm running a 225 on a 25ft'er. when i put up my sail of a bimini (ginormus), i do think i'd like more HP. still don't have a problem pulling tubes, skiers, etc with the 225, but if i had the choice, i'd be all over the 250. unless you are wot, you could argue that you may even save a little gas with the bigger motor. you'll potentially be in a more economical zone for you most used speed. when i'm moving from one point to another and not really sight seeing, i'll run 25ish at about 3700-3900 rpm with the sail up and loaded. i figure about 3300 is probably my GPH sweetspot. maybe with a bigger motor i could be at 3300 for 25MPH. my max rating is 225 so i'm stuck where i am.
