Do they make pontoon boats without wood decks??

I am still researching them, but it seems like deck will rot in a few years with wood. Anyone have issues with this?

yes they do make an extruded aluminum decks that are relatively light and very strong (but very $$$$)

but a wood deck with proper sealant and underskinning should last +10 yrs, especially if you opt for marine vinyl over carpet.

Plywood will last a very long time with care. Keep floor free of leaf litter or anything that will hold moisture. I have had 10 year old boats with floors as solid as new.
Tracker was using only aluminum on Regency models but now only offer wood I believe.

My boat is a 1992 with the original flood and it's still solid as a rock......I'm not 100% sure but I think all voyager pontoons have aluminum floors.

Carpet gets wet and can hold water, it also is more difficult to clean than vinyl...viynl is cheaper and is less likely to take on sun damage.

However, tectured marine vinyl may look cheaper/ less appealing and may not feel as nice as a plush 20-28oz carpet.

It all depends on how you want to use your boat....fishing/ utility = vinyl.....pleasure = carpet

My wood floor is 20 years old, run in salt water over 6000 hours and I don't do dick to my boat. We come in, I put it on the lift and we go inside. No rinse, wash or flush.

if you have the money go for aluminum ( a big cost addition, 0 maintenance) wood will give a good long life if you don't let water stand on it, keep it covered when not in use . I have gotten 16 years out of mine even with the neglect of the previous owner, Altis AFB Oklahoma, it was part of there recreation department and never covered.
I will never put carpet on a boat again, marine vinyl all the way

I hope so, my 91 Gruman is still hanging in there with no underskining yet, so done right more like 20 years, skinned you should never have to replace it

I have a Lowe Suncruiser that comes with a 1 piece wood deck with a lifetime warranty.
I have heard of others having problems with water seeping between the seams in thier plywood deck, not a problem on mine.

My toon has an all aluminum floor. Heck, there actually isn't a bit of wood on my boat at all. Bad thing is, they don't make Beachcombers anymore, to my knowledge.

If we are talking about the same Beachcomber that was manf. in Porum Landing (Eufaula, OK), they were not "officially" bought out by anyone. They went out of business. They made good toons, but had some severe management/employment issues. I tried to help the company stay afloat before I quit the bank. Blue Wave Boats (Seminole, OK) is starting a line of toons called Silverwave and have alot of "influence" from the Beachcomber line. If anyone wants to see some pics, I know I have some from the 1st one somewhere.
