Newby from Indiana

#1 Post by ddave » Wed Aug 24, 2011 5:18 am

Hello from Indiana
Just bought a 28' Harris Floatboat 1990 It has a 3.0 OMC I/O which both operate very well. We go to southern Indiana on the Ohio river and have a great time. Didn't pay much for the Boat but going to have to replace the seats and carpeting.
Looking forward to soaking in the wealth of knowledge on this site

Welcome Ddave, You guys back East have all of the great rivers & lakes I envy.
I do have one area yet to try (maybe) the Sacramento Delta, but it is 300 miles north of me.

Welcome from a fellow hoosier. I was gonna say, "see you on the water", but we always boat on Lake Monroe and Lake Cumberland.

Hi saw your post in this thread and being a transposed SoCal man with some experience with the lakes in that area, thought I would spend my .02 cents. If you are looking for lakes in Central Cali try Lake Naciemento and Lake San Antonio in Paso Robles, for day or overnite, camping cabins are available all decked out but no A/C. For day boating try Lopez Lake just above Arroyo Grande. Farther south you have Lake Casitas (strictly fishing and boating, no body contact) and Lake Cachuma. You probably all ready know about Lake Pyramid on top of the grapevine and Lake Castaic in the Newhall area. These are all pretty good sized lakes for the west coast. closer to home you have Lake Success in the Porterville area a little small but you can get your feet wet. There are a bunch of lakes between you and the Delta but having my nightly senior moment I just cant remember them right now. Please let me know if you need further info WAYNE
