First time pontooner!

#1 Post by heliguy » Sat Feb 04, 2012 3:23 pm

Fist off, Thank you. I did quite a bit of research on here before we made our first boat purchase. We ended up with a 2011 South Bay Tritoon with a 115 Mercury. We wanted the 150, but we we were already past our budget. We got it out on Lake Amistad (Outside Del Rio TX, on the boarder) last night and had a blast even though it was just for an hour. I believe this boat will get a lot of use when its 100+ degrees in a couple month.

Any ways, Thanks again for all the helpful info. You'll be hearing more from me for sure.

Beautiful boat. I see lifting strakes on the inside of the toons--good move.

It should perform very well. I saw these at the boat show 3 weeks ago, and they're very nice.

Thanks! The reason we went a little over budget is because we got the tritoon, skinned underside, and the lifting strakes. Ive never driven a regular pontoon, but this boat turned and rode like a regular boat. We are very happy.

heliguy.... that's a beautiful boat... congratulations.... I see you're in texas... we're next door in Louisiana and I hear you about those 100 degree summer days.... even when it was unbearable outside I had my big ass in the boat.. if not cruising around, then pulled up in the shallows under a couple of trees with a fishing pole in my hand...
