New tooner on Lake Wylie
Hello All,
Just joined the forum, but have gotten a lot of info from here. I ordered a new pontoon at the Charlotte boat show, and its your fault I changed up to a 150HP tritoon. I was prepared to go with a 2 pontoon 90HP but after much of what I read here, I changed to a 2012 Harris Flotebote 220 CX with a performance package and a 150HP Mercury. Just got back from a sea trial, and closed the deal. All I need now is good weather (today was great). I'll post pics soon.
thanks,
Bernard Scott

With that boat and engine combination, maybe you can keep up with all the NASCAR drivers that live on your lake.
They only believe in one thing on the water--speed. But, they're not around the lake on weekends.

Nobody said you have to go balls to the wall all the time; tooning is about enjoying the water on your terms. We find we run at cruising speed of 20mph nearly all the time, and full throttle very seldom. Still, its great to have that kind of performance available when you want it!
Just get it out a LOT, that is the first rule of TOON CLUB.

Pretty much same here. Not that enjoyable running 40 and keeping stuff laying around in the boat from blowing out no matter what kind of boat it is. It is good to know you can get to the other side of the lake much quicker plus outrunning any storms that might pop up during a trip out especially if you are 30 miles from your dock. Actually that was the only thing I missed when I went from bow rider to my first toon. Now if I decide to visit the other side of the lake it not an issue of how long it will take there and back. Since the fuel efficiency has improved over the years I don't even notice the diff between the 90 and 150hp in fuel consumption. I am sure the less drag factor of the tritoon contributes also in the mpg.

OK, took it out on it maiden voyage yesterday. I took pics at my slip, but duh, none while cruising. Middle daughter also came with me. I was pleasantly surprised at performance. Dealer said to expect 34-38 top, but it hit 41-42, confirmed by GPS. Didn't get the extra power and third toon for fast cruising, got it for the kids/grandkids tubing, etc. Very exited about the boat, just need more good weather!
Thanks,
Bernard

Very much agree with you. I would have been perfectly happy with my first choice, but after reading much here, I decided to upgrade so kids and grandkids won't lose interest in tubing, etc. Can't wait for good weather! I have no problem with rule #1!

Congratulations! Remember the worst thing to do to a boat is to not use it.
