Re: Where do you tie your anchor rope?
I use a 35lb navy anchor on the bow and a 15lb mushroom on the stern to keep it from swaying around. I have noticed though that on a moderatly windy day, I cannot get my anchors to hold. My lake is a muddy bottom and it's very frustrating sometimes. I may not let enough rope out sometimes and have the angle too steep for it to work properly I suppose. I've been eyeballing a Digger anchor that has rave reviews plus it's lighter- any opinons on this anchor? Also, I just tie off to my fencing in the front/rear and it seems very study, maybe I shouldn't do that??

Re: Where do you tie your anchor rope?
The key to setting the anchor so it stays is having a 2-3' length of chain between the anchor and the anchor rope. This keeps the anchor at the proper angle to the lake bottom for it to dig in.
You should be able to get by with a much lighter anchor if you use the chain. Some people I know have used anchor as light as 6 lbs. with the chain, anchoring in mud and haven't had any problems.

I have a 35lb. fluted mushroom anchor, with 6ft. of chain, and 100ft. of rope. I have yet to budge when setting this anchor for my 26 footer, in moderate winds. I used the exact same anchor last year, with 50 ft. of rope, and it wouldn't hold my toon still on a calm day. The Chain, and correct rope lenght make a huge difference.

Yep, I use chain on both my boats. Highly recommended.GXPWeasel wrote: The Chain, and correct rope length make a huge difference.

Any kind of Chain that you can get at like Lowes?
I dont mean that silly stuff you hang a Chandelier with, I mean any kind of Industrial chain would work? To be able to anchor the proper way is huge for me since there is a strong current in my lake. It would make the day on the lake alot more enjoyable for me.

Re: Where do you tie your anchor rope?
i'm lazy, i just tie it off to a rail. been doing it for years, never bent anything.
as for anchoring from the aft, not as bad in a toon as in a v hull.
i suppose a tri toon would be worse than a 2 toon, but i've still got a 2 toon.
so i choose fore/aft based on putting my butt in the shade.

I USE THIS ANCOR OFF THE BACK TIED TO THE RAIL. CHAIN HELPS KEEP THE ANCOR DOWN HELP A BUNCH. YOU NEED ALOT OF LINE THOUGH. AT LEAST DOUBLE THE DEPTH MORE IS BETTER.
