Another Okie

#1 Post by OK Toon » Thu Jun 28, 2012 8:49 am

Hello everyone! Before the comments begin, I don't have any pics yet of our pontoon -- we'll get some this weekend I promise. :biggrin2

My name is Steve. My wife Kim and I just bought our first pontoon. It's a 2003 Trinidad 222 with a 90hp 4-stroke. We've only had it a couple of weeks and we've been out on it a few times and just love it. I think we have the only Lab that doesn't like water, so we decided a pontoon would be the way to go so we could all enjoy some time on the water together.

I've been reading lots of great information on this site and I look forward to reading more and asking questions (and maybe some day I'll be able to help out another newbie).

I started to delay my first post till I had some pictures of our pontoon. But I decided I'm a big boy and I can take the abuse for posting without pics :lol3 . We've just been having so much fun on the new (to us) pontoon, that taking pictures hasn't been a priority.

I've been around boats most of my life when I was growing up -- the family boat. But I had never owned one myself. I've owned all sorts of PWC over the years. But now that I'm getting older (47), I like to take things a little slower. So a pontoon boat was just the solution. I had a set criteria of things I wanted in a pontoon boat (22', 4-stroke 90hp, bench seats, etc). So when we finally found a boat that met all of those things, we jumped on it. We were lucky to find a 1-owner boat that he had custom ordered and had taken great care of the boat (he's been great to let me continue to contact him with questions as well).

Hopefully we'll get to meet some of you on the water some day!

We are around Arrowhead area. Dad has a dock in Rock Creek Cove. We'll be there this weekend (and the first part of next week). And then every weekend in July!

Welcome!

I guess we can let ya slide on the "no pics" this time. I expect another post after the weekend :biggrin2

FYI...the pontoon is a great way to get your lab in the water. My lab also hated water, but I persistantly took her on the toon and beached it at a local island where the water was shallow and she slowly gained confidence.....Now, I cant get her out of the water! :biggrin2 :biggrin2

Welcome from Texas! Did you read in the rules that your computer blows up if no pics are posted by your fifth post? I don't know how Herb does it I have heard it is true. :donno

Well I forgot that Kim did actually take 1 pic of the boat last weekend -- well, not much of the boat but a good pic of our Lab, Isaac taking it easy. We weren't sure how he'd do on the pontoon boat, but it looks like he is quite fine with our choice. When we beach and there is still water in front of the boat, I have to lift him off the boat because he won't jump into any water. But if I can beach far enough, he will jump down onto dry ground. At least he is smart enough to lay in the shade under the Bimini.

We made a point to finally get a few pictures taken to show the boat. We had a great time on vacation - enjoyed early morning, afternoon and evening cruises.

Running at 5500 rpm, the speedo registered 17 but GPS showed 20. WOT was running around 6800 rpm - speedo was showing 25, didn't have GPS then. For our first boat, we are very happy with it.
