Fix for the new "Green" jerry gas cans.

Here's one to fix the midwest company one. Just modified it, works just like the old ones now. No more of this spring loaded bull shit causing you to spill gas all over.

I too was sick and tired of hunting garage sales and pawn shops for the old style gas cans and came across fuel jugs. They are like the ones motocross riders use. No EPA B/S built into it and cheaper than the Eco-friendly fuel spilling cans at most stores. Look at streetsideauto.com and search for VP fuel jugs, buy the hose extension and it works real nice! I ended up ordering 6 over this summer, and even built a holder in my truck bed for them. Im really happy with them.

I didn't even know what all of that crap on the nozzle was all about. I always take the top off and use a big funnel.

RobBrown is right about the square VP jugs sold online by large motorcycle parts suppliers.

You can unscrew the air vent, and gas will flow faster than a permanent fuel tank's filler neck can take in.

And an available metal tank rack can be permanently mounted if you're going to do long distance river cruising.

O'Bama's boys were not exactly doing us favors on modifying Gas Can minimal specifications. Gas cans have doubled in price--just like the price of the gasoline going into them. I just cannot believe 40 something per cent of our population would consider awarding a new term to such an administration of such failures.

I have some of those racing jugs. A chemical company sent some for us to use that had chemical labels on them for repackaging. I thought they looked familiar, tore off the labels and the gasoline warning info was on the can. I have around 5 of those, except I need new vent caps. All the jugs I have didn't come with them.

Most of the cost of the new cans came from the Blitz law suit. They are out of business now but that was a warning to the other manufacturers.

BTW the lawsuit was over a guy who was using a Blitz gas can to start a bonfire and it blew up on him. The new gas cans will need the same stuff as an OSHA can if the lawyers win. They may not even be plastic.

Liberals so far have given us:

Low flow toilets that use 4x the water.

CFL lights that are toxic, cost twice as much and last 1/2 as long as incandescent bulbs. (I bought a few LED household lights from Lights of America ($20 EACH) and a bunch have already failed).

Ethanol fuel that dissolves older fuel tanks, fuel lines and ruins engines.

Gas cans that need to be modified to work... :x :x :x :x :fyou

God bless our brothers to the north. :canada A simple drive across the bridge and I got a couple of these at the Canadian Wally World for about six bucks per.

Those VP race jugs look real nice but pretty spendy, plus I noted on several websites that the jug itself is not rated as a 'carry device'. I still have to vent my eco-crappy-cans. I'll use a Schraeder valve as described in the youtube video above. Here's a link to a Canuck ebay vendor that has a number of options like this available. http://www.ebay.com/sch/tru-mark/m.html ... k=1&&rt=nc

There's an active market on EBay for the old generation gas cans. People are going around to old hardware stores and buying every one they can before they list'em with EBay.

If you know of an old, slow moving hardware or sporting goods store, you may also can find the banned gas cans.

The cans aren't banned, they just ran the company who made most of the out of business.
