Can anyone tell me what the small "hole" on top of the helm is for? Hopefully the pictures work. It's on a Harris Flotebote Cruiser...see message below for pictures.

Maybe a drain if water gets up there... is there a tube attached to it back side? My helm area on my Bennington has drain holes with tubes attached that take it out the side through the rails.

Looks like a drain to me. Look under your console and you may find a plastic tube attached to the hole from the underside.

Since it's obvious we're winging it, I'm swaying another direction because aspects doesn't appear right for it to be an "intended drain". With the hole being surrounded with an anti-slip surface and the actual hole having a grommet on it I'm guessing it's intended purpose is for wire passage into the console. If one looks they might find lighter sockets inside the console (guessing here) intended for cell phones, I Pods or their likes which would then rest pretty securely on the anti-slip surface surrounding the wire feed hole.

Maybe a mounting hole for an auxiliary port(carrying on the ipod theme) to go directly into your stereo?

It's for the trigger wiring for a GE m134 mini-gun.

I have a similar hole but in a different location for the fill cap to my hydraulic steering. It could be the mounting point if you do have a cable setup and not hydraulic.
