Re: Boating cover
I'm going to the lake this weekend to do some work on the boat. Putting the new to me SeaStar on tried last weekend but didn't have the manual with me so couldn't get it to fit.

Re: Boating cover
The only problem with that is if you get a good rain and the tarp fills with water. You & the boat will be soaked trying to get all the water out.katieclooney wrote:Yes one to cover the boat while at the marina for the season.
I just bought the boat so don't have the extra 750 for a damn cover.
I have a tarp. Ill redneck it for awhile I guess. it will be a pita but at least its free lol
Unfortunately, The fitted mooring covers are the quickest & easiest if your boat stays in the water. Start snapping it on from the back towards the front while adding the poles to the designated grommets. your done in less than 5 minutes with a nice tight fit and no areas for water to pool up.

Know all about the water last 2 times before I made PVC support for the top had 150 Gal of water on top PITA to remove gets old real fast, bent railing don't know how many more times I can fix the rails. But I think I have it fixed this time, will take pics this time down if it worked.

Re: Boating cover
but what do you think of the store bought ones? Worth the $200 or should I put that $200 towards the $700 cover?

Re: Boating cover
Katie,
I am really really impressed with my pontoonstuff cover, however I believe it needs a really good support to work correctly (no pooling water) These supports can be made with pvc pipe for under 75 bucks. I will be going that route soon. I will update this post with what I find on Saturday. it has rained at the lake and cover was not on very good. I will let you decide....One of these covers would be less than 450 for your toon....

Re: Boating cover
These prices of $6-700 to have a cover made seem like a deal to me. I literally just gave the upholstery shop a $675 deposit to start making a mooring cover for my 24 footer. Its being made custom for my toon using the Sunbrella material. It will have 3-4 aluminum poles with vents where the poles fit into the cover. The total they quoted me was $1175.

Re: Boating cover
I had a heavy duty one custom made to fit my 20 ft boat made last year so it doubles as a storage and mooring cover. Its made from sumbrella so its water and snow proff, It ran 1200.00 but its my garage on or off the lake. It takes 5 minuted to remove and about 10 to put on while on the slip. Yes a good cover is expensive but its more than worth it.

Re: Boating cover
I've had good luck with the cover I bought from www.vortexdirect.com . The 24' was only $168 and comes with free shipping and a 5 year warranty. I put one on my 24' Bentley last fall and it worked out great. Kept the pontoon dry all winter. I'm in SC, so I don't have the snow issue but it looks like its sturdy. The cover has elastic around the bottom and tie down straps. It's big enough so it covers the front patio area. That was the problem I had with my factory cover, the front would get wet and soak the carpet under the cover.

Well? what happened with the massive wind and rain?
I tried covering the back seat/sundeck with tarp. Sure as sheet the items in the storage bins under the seats got wet.

Has anyone ever used a half cover? I don't trailer my boat so I need it for water use and the ones on pontoonstuff.com are all "not for water use"
Menards has them for $170 but seem like they would be a PITA to put on while in a slip.
Re: Boating cover
The sad thing is if you dont get it dyed out mold will set in real fast and once that starts its real hard to kill it out, and it grows in the vinyl and not on the surface.
