Re: Project Twin
1/4-20 bolts with fender washeres for the front legs, in the back I used #14 flat head coarse thread screws (all SS of course). It feels nice and sturdy.
Now I'm kind of in a waiting game. I have a few more minor things I can do, but the major work needs to wait for 2 things. I need to get a helm with a large enough place to put all my gauges, and I need the roads to clear up long enough to pull the boat to the location where the motors are stored so I can mount them. And the forcast is calling for MORE SNOW. Looks like 2 more weeks until we get above freezing
I HATE WINTER

Seats!!!
Ok, seat
I decided to throw a corner seat in. This is the color selection I'm going with, the Premium -304 color from PontoonStuff. I love it. Might as well start laying out the seats that I can while I wait on a few other things.
Ok, seat

Re: Project Twin
Speaking of doing "stuff"...I couln't sleep last night so I decided to start running the rigging. The guy I bought the motors from has an awesome mechanic. He carefully labeled every thing when he removed them, and I got every last nut & bolt. I might have to buy longer shift cables for the port motor, but other then that every thing I need is here. It's going to make this job go very smooth

Re: Project Twin
Here's some thing that has me puzzeled...there must be some sort of safety protection on this set up. This switch is wired in, and it must take some sort of "issue" to trip it. Once it's in the RUN position, it can't be shut off by hand

That's weird that you can't shut it off by hand. Mine has one identical to that and it runs or stops depending on how it is switched, basically it is a manual kill switch.

Re: Project Twin
That is your safety "Dead Man" lanyard switch... You attach one end to yourself and the other end (some type of loop) to the switch, push it up to the "run" position and if you go over board, the engine stops running...

Rich

Re: Project Twin
Sorry, I should have added that the first thing I checkd was to see if it was a saftey kill. It is not. At least I can see no way of attaching a lanyard to it. And if I recall correctly, I'm thinking the key switches are both the standard "lift & lock" lanyard type. Hmm...maybe I made that all up
Better double check tonight...

Re: Project Twin
That's whats weird on mine. There is no way to attach a lanyard it would just slip off the switch. When I had all my electrical issues I thought it was the culprit. I learned alot about Merc wiring this summer trust me.ToonGuy wrote:Sorry, I should have added that the first thing I checkd was to see if it was a saftey kill. It is not.
