I use a Porter Cable Dual action polisher on our Corvette, and other car. It's about to get used on our Tritoon later this season. My Sharkhide is starting to show it's age..... this fall it will have been on for 2 years. I'm a little disappointed, as I hoped for 3 years as our boat isn't left in the water, but on a lift after each use. I'm not sure that I'll re apply shark hide. As someone else posted (bamaman) I believe, he polished his outside toons and 3 nose cones and 3 end caps in about an hour with a dual action machine and wool bonnet. I'm going to go this route. Already bought the White Diamond polish to try out.

This polisher is very high quality.

Thanks for that link, I was looking at the DeWalt because of it's high ratings and it also has a 9" wheel. I like the increase in surface area over the 6" pads, I'm hoping that translates into noticeably less time polishing.
I'm looking at a DeWalt polisher on Amazon, what specific pads do you recommend that use hook and loop?

I don't know the difference between applicator, polish and finish pads.
I actually used a $50 polisher from harbor freight. They have the pads as well... actually named applicator, polishing, and finishing pads. Use in that order.

I do mine every year and it never gets easier. Thanks for the tip about using rubbing compound on the bad sections first though. The tarp I cover my boat with in the winter makes scuff marks that may come off easier now.
