The state park web site says
Surrounded by mostly public lands, Lake Billy Chinook
includes 72 miles of shoreline and a surface area of
4,000 acres.

I think that soared right over chill'nthemost head "400 feet of shoreline". We call anything with 400 ft of shoreline a mud hole or small pond.
Ok, so it wasn't feet

shit 400 wasn't even part of the number

You see I made these cookies and.... first time I ever made that kind of butter, wow. so I looked it up. It's 72 miles of shore line. Most places are 100 to 200 FEET deep. In the early '60's they dammed the end of the Crooked River Gorge. Three river's run into it and you can run up each arm as far as you dare. Old timers told me they didn't even tear down the barns and houses when they completed the dam and flooded the gorge. The bridge over the canyon to the lake it's so far above the dry part of the gorge floor a state park placard claims that because of the height and the fact we live in the high desert, if you throw a stick match off the bridge in the summer, because of friction it will light before it hits bottom because of length of the fall. Cookies aside, I know people who claim to have done it themselves. I remember when I was a little kid some sick woman threw both her little kids off the bridge. I'm sure she's still in prison. There is a sign there to keep your dogs on a leash after some guy on a trip let his lab out of the back of a canopy years ago. The dog, the story goes had a hedge that he jump all the time in his own yard when he was let out of his kennel. In the parking lot at the rest area where the bridge is is a wide rock wall about hedge height. He let the tail gate down and the dog raced out. All the dogs owner heard was yelp as the dog cleared the rock wall. The lake has the best crayfishing this side of the Rockies. My neighbor fishes for them commercially. He has a contract with a local Indian too. Of course the Indian's can harvest in places only Indian's can, so the yields are huge and so are the crayfish. My buddy from Connecticut was here he couldn't believe the size of them. They really are like small lobsters. Some are even blues. In season he sells thousands of pounds, all fresh. Shit some of them are 400 feet long

Buddy of mine makes those kind of cookies with what I'd bet is a very similar kind of "butter" and he don't make much kind of sense after eating the either. Enjoyed the story, hope you're enjoying the buzz.

I was just thinkin' bout that today. It may be cheaper to rent a slip at the marina than drive the diesel guzzler to the lake.

They are probably cheaper down your way. Up here, it's $2200 a season. Some marinas are $3100. Still worth it though, not having to deal with boat ramps and the ability to just jump in and go.

Down here in the boom they were selling "dockaminiums" for $300,000 and you still had a couple hundred dollar monthly fee.
I am not sure what they go for these days but they seem pretty full when I look in the big storage buildings.

IF they get water back into the lake this summer I will boat two or three times a week. I don't care if it cost $10.00 a gal. We did not get the boat out at all last year and only a few months the year before. I am ready for SUMMER BOATING. Screw this winter crap.

You are right 2004, 2005, 2006, finished it in 2007. From the first summer in 2005 they found that salvinia in the lake and then they started drawing it down and last drawdown was july 2008 and we have not had water in the lake sense. This year we should find a full lake if we get some rain and a lot of the salvania will have been killed by the cold weather, and lack of water. I hope that they can contain the rest until they can get it sprayed and killed.
