Bent the front of my pontoon?

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
I did the same thing to mine. we heated the area and used a bar to bend it back in place and then finished it up w/a rubber hammer. There was a small hole in the top though that had to be welded (about the size of a felt pen tip).

I would have to fix it. I could not handle the endless harassment from our friends. Some things they just never will let you live down.

If you do decide to fix it your self, and you decide to try heat remember your toons are most likely pressurized to 3.5psi already, and the heat will expand that. Might want to pull the valve before you start...
Just one boat...after another, after another

I should have listened to "Texaswildman". I paid to have it fixed at the dealer and he did it with a rubber hammer in about 5 minutes. Live and learn I guess!!!!!

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
wijames, I'm glad it got fixed. I'm interested in this because (as you may have read above) my South Bay also has a bent eye on it. Mine looks a lot like sjc195's picture above.
Did yours look like that? Was it bent that much? I might try to fix mine since it worked for you -- after all, I have a rubber mallet! I've always been reluctant to touch it. Like the others expressed above, I am worried it will crack and then I would need a welder. How bad was yours?

Mine wasn't quite as bad as scj195's, only bent about 3 inches.woolznaz wrote:wijames, I'm glad it got fixed. I'm interested in this because (as you may have read above) my South Bay also has a bent eye on it. Mine looks a lot like sjc195's picture above.

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
Thanks. I took a closer look at mine. I think I have to leave it alone. It has a bit of "crease" in it and I just cannot imagine that bending back without opening up with a crack. I'll just have to hit the other side to match it!
Actually, I think I'll just have to live with it or take it to a welder to fix it, but it would never look like new again.

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
hit it and if it breaks fix it no big deal but you can save money and learn too.. love my tracker
Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
Hit the dock a bit hard at an angle and slightly bent the upper tie point on the toon. Its bent maybe a inch, not the more common where its bent over badly. Would it still be unwise to try to bend back? I would use a block of wood and a large dead blow hammer.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
Me thinks you should bend the other side to match, no one will know then

Re: Bent the front of my pontoon?
A couple whacks with the BFH and a block of wood fixed it good as new.
