GPS on the Toon ??

#1 Post by EastMark » Thu Jul 23, 2009 5:40 pm

Putting a fishfinder/GPS on the toon. Thinking that silly little white disk has to go up on the Bimini top with the light.
Any better ideas or mounting suggestions for the bimini location ?

Thanks for any input.

Was it on a post/riser to get it up a bit or flush on the flat in front of the windsheild ?
That sounds better than on the bimini.

I knoew someone had to have a better clue than I did. :drink4

As long as it has a clear view of the sky you're fine. Screw a bracket to the front or back of the bimini and zip-tie the cable down a leg, or if your layout permits, stick it to a forward table or screw a bracket to the front railing. Higher is only suggested to get it clear of obstruction. It needs to "hear" 3 birds to get a triangulated fix.

Mine is the same. Built into the unit mounted on the dash and having the bimini up does not interfer with it.

Mine is mounted on a flat surface on the right of my consul, works fine, Bimini is no problem. Just find an out of the way surface and mount it securely so it doesn't vibrate. :2cents
