I'd like everyone to post pics of anything coustom you've done to your boat that wasn't from the factory......everything from motor swaps to stereos to adding or polishing logs, maybe rod holders trolling motors or anything you can think of. I'm trying to get ideas for my boat......thank all who post :thumbsup

Being disabled and an old fart I customized my ladder. The top half came with boat but I bought the bottom half from Beachcomber and added it to mine. Now I barely have to lift leg to get on ladder. I also made the ladder standoff as original hung straight down.

My factory cover came with skinny aluminum uprights and after a heavy snow it tore through. I also had water pooling over sun pad in rear. This is my fix

This is the console I built when I put this boat together in 1990.
Fiberglass over plywood with an 18 gallon gas tank in the seat. Teak top.

This is the socket for the redneck T top you see in my avatar.
(The PVC pipe) It sits in teak base on the deck and is strapped to the console with stainless "U" bolts.
I use it most of the time because my bimini is a a PITA.

I added a third pontoon / transom to ours that was taken from a 28 ft. party hut and utilized on our crest.

The sch. 40 was used as conduit to protect the control cables and all electrical from potential damage as far as feasible towards the front of the boat. Where the physical mating of the existing cross members and supplemental third pontoon was infeasible, supplemental quarter in. aluminum was utilized as a supplement to provide a secure attachment of the pontoon.

Galvanized stringers!

I wondered who could actually have then.
Cold water in a lake I guess.

In 88 degree salt water they will be gone in a few years. That is why I had to tear apart my Harris in the first place. The original owner had this boat in Wisconsin (Minnesota or one of those frozen places) and a few years after he moved to Florida it was toast in spite of copious amounts of paint.

I happen to agree with you, but you also have to remember that maybe one in a thousand pontoon boats ever see any salt water usage. And you have to admit they're in pretty good shape for being just a year or two shy of forty years old (1972 boat). In the freshwater usage this boat has always seen I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't hold up another forty years.

That may be true. I imagine most real salt water areas are not that pontoon friendly but they are very popular here on the Florida Gulf Coast. In my community about half the boats are pontoons. A lot of it has to do with how well they do in shallow water.

Essentially my or our whole boat is custom from the pontoons on up but it is actually a Pontoon Houseboat. Most of the rebuild was a necessary because the boat was so old, and their was a lot of hidden rot behind some pretty sound looking flimsy paneling. I'm not sure whether you'll glean and find anything I've done actually useful for your boat or not, but then again a person just never knows. You're welcome to review my rebuild on the threads posted here: http://blog.pontoonhouseboatodyssey.com ... build.aspx and I've included quite a few photo's in all the posts.

Underskinning!!!!!!!!!!

If you have a Hoosier up/down trailer here's a great mod. Big metal stop rails and a winch line to pull the boat up on the trailer. :drool
If you have the hoosier trailer you know what I'm talking about :eviltaunt
